Freddy Mutanguha

Director, Kigali Memorial Center, Rwanda

 

Freddy Mutanguha is Head of Country for Aegis in Rwanda and Director of the Kigali Genocide Memorial (for which Aegis is responsible). He survived the 1994 genocide as a teenager. As an orphan head of household, he worked his way through school to become one of the leading advocates for peace and human rights education, inspiring the next generation of Rwandans to create a more stable future. A graduate of the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology, he helped to found AERG, Rwanda’s student survivors association, and went on to become Secretary General of IBUKA, the national umbrella association for Rwandan genocide survivors. Freddy Mutanguha lectures internationally about the impact of the genocide and about post-conxict reconstruction.
